Government delivers 350 pieces of iron sheets to benefit three schools in Kasese District

The Government through the Office of the Prime Minister has delivered a consignment of iron sheets to facilitate the rehabilitation of three primary schools that were recently affected by the natural disasters at the beginning of this year in Busongora County North, Kasese District.

A consignment totalling to 350 pieces of iron sheets was received by the leadership of Kasese District Local Government last evening.

The delivery note signed by Mr. Davis Mwenyi CM, for the Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister indicates that the iron sheets are not meant for general relief distribution but only target schools including Ibuga in Kitswamba sub-county, Bughendero in Buhuhira and Kaghando in Maliba sub-county which were recently affected by heavy winds.

The mentioned schools were affected in January and February this year, forcing pupils to resort to studying under the trees amidst the harsh weather conditions.

Mr. Mustafa Kikusa, the Principal Assistant Secretary in the office of the Chief Administrative Officer has acknowledged receipt of the iron sheets.

Kikusa put it categorically clear that Ibuga will receive 150 pieces of iron sheets, Bughendero will receive 100 and Kaghando will receive 100.

The Busongora County North Member of Parliament, Hon. Sowedi Kitanywa who wrote to the Prime Minister on March 04 this year requesting for the affected schools to be considered, explained that he was concerned when he saw the fate of the learners.

The Kasese District Chairperson, Mr. Eliphaz Muhindi Bukombi told our reporter that they had also submitted many other institutions including health facilities which were also affected so that they are also considered.
