A 42-year-old woman from Kyanya Upper Cell in Ibanda – Kyanya Town Council, Busongora County North in Kasese district has got a reason to smile after the Bishop of South Rwenzori Diocese handed her a well furnished self-contained house with a separate room for her weak father.
Jemima Kabugho, a physically disabled single mother of two children was yesterday surprised by the bishop’s swift action, ensuring transformation of her living standards.
During his pastoral visit to All Saints Kyanya Church of Uganda Parish last year, Rt. Rev. Nason Baluku, interacted with Kabugho and was touched by her story.
Following the interaction, the Bishop pledged to build a house for her.
According to him, it was a shared responsibility of the church, government and the community members among others to cater for the well being of the persons with disabilities.
Daniel Baluku Dingyi, the father of Jemima Kabugho expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Bishop and other supporters for choosing his daughter among many, adding that the newly constructed house had restored their hope as a family.
Isaac Kamalha Muthima, the LC I Vice Chairperson of the area pledged security to the beneficiary and the entire family, saying Kabugho’s development was for the whole village.
In her maiden speech, Kabugho revealed that she could not believe that the newly constructed house belonged to her.
