The youth across the country yesterday went to the polls to elect the Village Youth Council members.
The exercise was part of the ongoing election cycle for the Special Interest Groups.
A mini survey conducted by our reporters around Kasese Municipality, the NRM party won most positions in the areas of Kikonzo Cell, Railway Ward in the Central Division while NUP took the lead in Kanyangeya Ward, Nyamwamba Division.
Mr. Jimmy Bwambale Kamusithu, the Councilor representing Kikonzo Elective Area to the Central Division who subscribes to FDC and Ms Jethu Kayibale, the Kikonzo Cell Vice Chairperson told our reporter shortly after the elections at Kikonzo Polling Station that they were dissatisfied with the results, alleging that the election was marred by voter bribery.
Salimu Mubaraka, the Chairperson L.C II for Kanyangeya Ward stated that besides the huddles that happened during the voting exercise in his area of jurisdiction, the NRM party still managed to win only 02 positions as NUP party took the lead.
Meanwhile, Ms Enid Tumusiime, the Kasese Municipality NRM Vice Chairperson stressed that the party won 90% of the youth council positions, hailing government for allowing the youth exercise their leadership skills.
However, Mr. Joseph Muhemba Musisale, the Kasese District Deputy NRM Registrar congratulated the winners upon their victory, adding that most of the positions had been registered unopposed in some parts of the district.
