Hima Cement Ltd pledges cooperation with Uganda Police Force

Hima Cement Ltd has pledged its full cooperation with the Uganda Police Force following a recent crackdown on counterfeit cement in Luwero District, where two suspects were arrested for allegedly manufacturing and distributing fake construction materials.

The police operation, conducted on April 5, 2025, targeted a hardware store at Kasana Market and a residence in Kalongo Zone, both within Luwero Town Council.

Acting on a tip-off, the authorities arrested two suspects, Ronald Onyango and Dauda Mutesasira and recovered large quantities of suspected counterfeit cement branded as Hima, Tororo, and Fundi.

Officers also found empty packaging materials and unverified substances stored in sacks.

In a public statement issued today, Hima Cement applauded the swift action by law enforcement and reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the integrity of its products.

Philemon Mubiru, the Head of Innovation and Marketing at Hima Cement, strongly condemned the criminal activity.

The company has urged the public to remain alert and report any suspicious cement products by calling 0312 213100/200 or emailing hima.kampala@himacement.com.

Counterfeit goods remain a major challenge in Uganda.

According to the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS), an estimated 58% of products on the Ugandan market are either fake or substandard.  ENDS
