The Central Division Council in Kasese Municipality has supported the move by the Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu to establish a museum (cultural village) and subsequently allocated shillings 30 million to kick start the project.

In a council sitting today, Hon. Nicodemus Sibanza, the Male Youth Councilor who moved the motion revealed that the Office of the Prime Minister of Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu had approached them and requested the authorities to establish a museum in the urban centre.

He stated that the Local Government Act Cap 243 part 3 (1) H in the second schedule gives council the authority to among other functions and services take the responsibility of the museum.

He observed that the museum plays a critical role in preserving the cultural heritage, promoting traditions, stories and cultural legacies.

According to him following the recognition of the Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu by the Government of Uganda, the museum would complement her mission of acting as a centre for community engagement, fostering education and stimulating economic growth through tourism.

Following his submission and thorough discussions, council chaired by the Deputy Speaker, unanimously supported the motion and allocated shillings 30 million to have the project kick started.
