Government has reached 90% in implementing a five-year Kasese district development plan, says Minister Kabbyanga

The Minister of State in-charge of National Guidance, Godfrey Baluku Kabbyanga Kime has revealed that the Government of Uganda has so far reached 90% in terms of implementing a five –year Kasese district development plan.

The plan was developed and launched by the Members of Parliament and leaders in the district in 2021.

 According to the plan, the leaders indicated operationalizing the railway systems, upgrading of Kasese airstrip, revamping of Kilembe Mines, Agriculture Land Management and Sustainability and Tourism.

The other pillars include education, health, human capital development and disaster management among others.

About the upgrade of Kasese Airfield, Kabbyanga says Government has approved a Turkish Company to do the work. For Kilembe Mines, the Minister stresses that government has also approved Saria Group Limited to revamp the mines while Yapi Makenzo has also been selected to take over the constructions of the Railway line from Busia to Kasese.

About the issue of a referral hospital, the Minister explains that Rukoki Health Centre IV is being worked upon to attain a hospital status so that Bwera Government General Hospital is elevated to a referral hospital.

For the issues concerning land at Nkoko, the Minister says officials from the line Ministry will be on the ground next week to have the conflicts resolved; revealing that for the flood victims encamped at Muhokya, the Office of the Prime Minister is in-charge and a positive response will soon be received.

He sounded the revelations last evening at Rwenzori International Hotel in Kasese town during an official launch of the preparatory meetings for the thanksgiving ceremony of Gen. Wilson Mbasu Mbadi and himself.

The duo who are expected to host President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as the Chief Guest at the ceremony are returning thanks to God and the President for their appointments as Ministers of State for Trade and National Guidance  respectively among other achievements in Kasese district.

Mr. Girivasio Monday Bwambale, the Kasese District Vice Chairperson observed need for Kasese to be given a public university in a bid to curtail the learners from travelling long distances in search of university education.
