6,000 trees planted on Buhikira Royal Hill,Kasese Industrial and Business Park and Fataki Hill and Mwaro

At least 6,000 trees have so far been planted on the Buhikira Royal Hill, Kasese Industrial and Business Park, Fataki Hill and Mwaro during the ongoing Rwenzori Theluji Festival celebrations.

Mr. Benson Kule Baritazale, the Chairperson Board of Directors for Kasese Tourism Investors’ Forum during this third edition, they have concentrated on indigenous, bamboo and fruit trees some of which have been planted along river banks, bare hills and the already gazetted and recognized places.

He has since appealed to the residents living in disaster prone areas not only in Kasese district but also the entire Rwenzori Sub-region to embrace the campaign of tree planting in order to conserve the environment.

Mr. Charles Mugisa Police, the National Chairperson for the Organizing Committee of the Rwenzori Theluji Festival happily says the trees that were planted at Kasese Industrial and Business Park during the first and second editions are steadily growing, applauding the caretakers for job well done.

According to him, the organizing committee is in partnership with both government and Civil Society Organizations to donate free tree seedlings to whoever wants to plant them for environmental conservation.
