22 people nominated for parliamentary positions in Kasese district on the first day

At least 22 parliamentary candidates have today been nominated on the very first day to participate in the forthcoming 2026 General Elections in Kasese district.

The two-day exercise that started today and will end tomorrow is being conducted by the Electoral Commission at the District Multipurpose Hall in Kasese town. 

First to be nominated at 9:00am was Ferigo Kambale for Kasese Municipality on the NRM ticket, followed by Francis Mugisa Kithulha also for Kasese Municipality on an independent ticket, and Major (Rtd) John Katusabe Sibendire for Kasese Municipality on an independent ticket.

Others are Robert AsingyaMuthoma for Kasese Municipality on the NUP ticket, Florence Kabugho for Kasese Woman MP on the FDC ticket, Sarah Ithungu Masereka Baleke for Kasese Woman MP on the NRM ticket, Jackson Mbaju Kathika for Busongora County South on the NUP ticket, and Cleus Bwambale for Bukonzo County East on the NUP ticket.  

The exercise also saw Sowedi Kitanywa for Busongora County North nominated on the NRM ticket, William MusabeNzoghu for Busongora County North was also nominated on the FDC ticket, Selevest Masereka for Bukonzo County East on the FDC ticket, David Mulindwa Isimbwa for Busongora County South on the NRM ticket, Aloysius Baguma Kiyemafor Busongora County South on the FDC ticket and Dr. Julius Monday Rude for Bukonzo County East on the NRM ticket.

Fatuma Kamama Kathembo was also nominated for Kasese District Woman MP on the NUP ticket, Robert Franco Centenary was also nominated for Kasese Municipality on the FDC ticket, Harold Tony Muhindo was nominated for Bukonzo County East on the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) ticket and Mary Marylin Kabugho for Kasese District Woman MP on an independent ticket among others.

Chrispus Kiyonga was nominated for Bukonzo County West on the NRM ticket. Dr. Kiyonga told the press shortly after being nominated that once given the opportunity, he would address issues related to education and agriculture.

Most of the candidates promised to implement some pro-people development programmes among their respective communities.

Such programmes include lobbying for infrastructural improvement like roads, health centres and schools among others.

Later, each of the candidates moved to their various communities in company of their supporters.

Other reporters who moved to other constituencies couldn’t be reached by press time.

 Godfrey Mbabazi, the Kasese District Returning Officer, explained that those who were nominated for Kasese District Woman Member of Parliament today are 05, Kasese Municipality 06, Busongora County South 03, Busongora County North 03, Bukonzo County West 01, Bukonzo County East 04.

He, however, warned them against the practice of making early campaigns despite being nominated because they are supposed to submit in their programmes to his office for harmonization.
