A 14-year-old boy has this evening survived being lynched by a mob in Kirembe Cell of the Central Division in Kasese Municipality on allegations of making transactions using counterfeit money.

The victim identified as Edgar Mumbere, who claims to have gone to Kirembe from Kizungu was trapped after he had bought soda and toothpaste using fake money at Kyababinga trading centre.

The victim acknowledged that he set off from Kizungu with fake money amounting to shillings 75,000 with an aim of buying items from the shop as he gets good money in form of balances.

His deal was however cut short when some of the traders became suspicious and made an alarm that attracted crowds of people who got hold of him, beating him instantly.

The troubled Mumbere regretted the incident and testified that it was his first time to deal in counterfeit money on the guidance of a friend who even transported him to the area on a boda-boda.

Kirembe Cell Vice Chairperson, Mr. Aganatia Bwambale Lhuhalha told the press that they had launched the investigations to find the victims accomplices.

By press time, he was planning to take the victim to Kasese Central Police Station for safe custody.
