At least 14 students living with disabilities are currently sitting for their 2025 Uganda Certificate of Examinations (UCE) in Kasese district.
John Rugarama, the Senior Inspector of Schools in-charge of Special Needs Education says the said students are actively writing their papers that will determine the end of their ‘O’ level.
He mentioned schools that have such a category of students including St. Agnes Vocational Secondary School with 07 candidates, Saad Memorial Secondary School with 04, Maliba Secondary School, Citizens Secondary -Kasese and Kasese Secondary School with each having one candidate.
He explains that of the candidates, some are having physical impairments while others are deaf and blind.
Rugarama happily says they have not had nay challenges ever since the examinations began because the candidates prepared for them on time.
He calls on the parents to always support their children with disabilities through giving them all the school requirements so that they too attain formal education that would pay way for them to realize a brighter future.
