Over 100 youth from the Democratic Party (DP), Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Kasese Municipality have crossed to the National Unity Platform (NUP).
The defectors were received today by Mr. Bryans Basisa, the Kasese District NUP Chairperson at Bamboocha Gardens in Kasese town.
Mr. Basisa asked the new members to embrace the party ideologies, discipline and unity.
Hon. Jackson Mbaju Kathika, the former Busongora County South Member of Parliament and the NUP Mobiliser for the Rwenzori Sub-region said he was happy that the number of people who were currently crossing to the NUP was a clear manifestation that the political party was gaining momentum.
Robert Muthoma, a Parliamentary hopeful for Kasese Municipality and Alia Biira, the Chairperson for the Women League encouraged both the youth and women to fully participate in the 2026 General Elections.
Mr. Ronald Mubunga, alias Ronnie Nash who mobilized the defectors asked them to embrace unity, peace and love while mobilizing for the party.
Some of the defectors including Ms Jennifer Mbahimba, noted that they decided to cross to NUP as a platform that would pave way for them to participate in elective politics in the 2026 General Elections.
