Youth challenged to guard against God-given talents

The former Kasese District Education Officer, Mr. George S. Mayinja has challenged the youth to jealously guard against their God-given talents and work towards promoting them.

Mr. Mayinja sounded the challenge yesterday while officiating at the launch of a “Talents’ Show Group” at Nyakasojo Church of Uganda in Kighuthu Anglican Church of Uganda, Bwera Archdeaconry  in South Rwenzori Diocese.

Nyakasojo Talents’ Show Group is part of the 09 branches that have been established across the Diocese by South Rwenzori Messiah Radio under the Words of Hope Programme.

In his remarks, Mr. Mayinja explained that God gives different talents to his people, stressing that they must be utilized positively.

The former District Education Boss emphasized need for the parents to care for their children through taking them to school. He, however, challenged the children to have discipline and respect for the elderly as well as loving God.

He observed need for the parents to encourage their children to embrace vocational training if they fail to go for formal education.

Mr. Mayinja used the same platform to declare to the congregation that he would vie for the District Chairpersonship position in the NRM primary elections.

Mr. Oniz Zebulon, the Chairperson for Muhindi Thuminyane Group, who was the Co-guest at the function, commended the members of the “Talent Show Group” for their unity and appealed to them to always share one another’s burdens.

Mr. Josephat Mugisa commonly known as Papa Surusuru who is the Central Chairperson for the “Talent Show Groups” across the Diocese, echoed the need for the parents to educate their children for the sustainability and development of the church and their families.

Mr. Nelson Kasoka, the “Talent Show Group” Chairperson for Nyakasojo Branch explained to the congregation that they decided to launch the association and carry out a mini-fundraising drive to solicit funds for the procurement of a tent and plastic seats for use by the members.+

At the launch, over shillings 2.3 million was collected to facilitating the procurement of a tent.
