Members of the Village Health Team (VHTs) in Kasese District have been encouraged to join some enterprise groups situated in their respective communities as one way of benefiting from the government programs.
The encouragement was sounded today afternoon by Mustafa Kikusa, the Principal Assistant Secretary in the Office of the ChiefAdministrative Officer while officiating at the launch of giving out gumboots to the VHTs across the district, a function that was held at Kasese Municipal Health Centre III in Kasese Town.
Mr. Kikusa noted that besides the voluntary work done by the VHTs, they ought to benefit from the government programs like the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga and others as one way of empowering themselves economically.
He commended them for their tireless efforts in rendering services to the population through educating the masses on how to get rid of diseases.
Agnes Mbambu, the District Health Educator, revealed that they recently received a total of 1,760 gumboots to be given to the VHTs in all Sub-counties, Town Councils and Divisions so that they help them to effectively execute their work.
