UPC donates relief items to the landslide victims in Kyondo sub county

The Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) has donated an assortment of relief items to the people who were recently displaced by landslides and floods in Kyondo Sub-county, Bukonzo County East in Kasese district.

Last month, Kasese district witnessed landslides and floods that did not only claim the lives of some scores of people but also led to destruction of property including houses, crops and poultry among others. 

Today morning, a delegation from UPC led by Mr. Asasio Karamagi, the District Youth Chairperson for the party thronged Kabyogho Roman Catholic Church and delivered an assortment of items including maize flour, beans, salt and basins to 100 people from the selected camps of Kanyatsi Roman Catholic Church, Busingo Church of Uganda and Kithangetse Church of Uganda who were mostly affected during the incident.

Mr. Karamagi explained that the party decided to donate to the affected families as a sign of love. 

 Mr. Lazarus Masereka, the UPC Chairperson in-charge of Bukonzo County, pledged to lobby for more relief items from the political party and her well-wishers for the benefit of the affected people.

Mr. Juvenal Muke, the Kyondo Sub-county Chairperson, who commended UPC for supporting the flood victims, appealed to other political parties to also extend a helping hand to the people living in some temporarily established camps in the area.

Some of the beneficiaries including Mrs. Jolly Kyaminyawandi, Mr. Henry Masereka and Gevina Ithungu described the relief as timely.
