Uganda’s IGP visits Kasese district to assess the security problems

The Uganda’s Inspector General of Police today, Wednesday November 12,2025 visited Kasese District to assess some security problems in the area as well as strengthening efforts towards the provision of security for the development of the country. 

Abbas Byakagaba who arrived in Kasese in the morning hours, had his warm welcome at the Rwenzori East Regional Police Headquarters and was directed to the police barracks for inspection, went to the district multipurpose hall for a meeting with police officers from the four divisions before meeting the Cabinet Ministers of Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu at Virina Gardens in Kasese town.

Byakagaba, who addressed the journalists shortly after the two separate closed-door meetings, noted that they were determined to providing security to the people despite the recent attacks on security installations in the region.

He pledged total security to the Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu as they celebrate the forthcoming Omusinga’s Birthday Run slated for this Friday November 14, as well as the proceeding events including Christmas and the 2026 General elections.

He commended the Obusinga for stabilizing the peace in the region, noting that her relationship with the police was tight and positive since the two institutions are working together. 

Commenting about the recent attacks, the IGP condemned the act and revealed that those who were arrested in connection with the incident will appear in the courts of law. He advised the people never to be misguided and confused to join unlawful activities.

The Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Benson Kule Baritazale appreciated the interactions that they had with the Inspector General of Police, revealing that his message gave them hope of having sustained security in the region and the country at large especially as they head to the coronation anniversary.

Baritazale was happy that they unveiled the five pillars of the Kingdom to the security and some hints contained in the five – year Strategic development plan.

The Prime Minister revealed that the Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu was looking for shillings 1.3 billion to facilitate the implementation of the first few projects highlighted in the strategic development plan.
