The Uganda Communications Commissions in partnership with the Ministry of Finance has donated iPads to the Parish Development Model (PDM) SACCOleaders across Kasese District, with a call on them to use the gadgets to keep the program’s records.
James Mukango from the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) handed over theiPads to the beneficiaries yesterday at a function that was held at the district multipurpose hall in Nyamwamba Division of Kasese Municipality.
He noted that donation aims to enhance digital literacy, improve access to information, and facilitate efficient service delivery among the SACCO members.
At the function, UCC also empathized the importance of using iPads responsibly and for the intended purpose.
The devices are expected to improve digital financial services, training, and capacity building, as well as providing access to market information and enhancing record-keeping and management.

Zebedee Byabali, the Bunyandiko-Kilembe PDM SACCO Secretary described the donation as a step toward bridging the digital divide and promoting financial inclusion in the region.
Samuel Mbathahya, the Secretary for Bukumbia- Nyakabingo PDM SACCO, noted that empowering SACCOs with digital tools would help them address the challenges that they would face while implementing the program. They include hiring computers at high costs.
Janet Muhindo from Kinyamaseke South PDM SACCO, hailed the government for the gadgets, saying they would help them to track the records of the program beneficiaries.
