A section of Town Clerks and Heads of Finances in Bukonzo County East, Kasese district have refuted the allegations indicating that they failed to disclose their audit reports to the Senior Auditor.
The said officials refuted the claims while appearing before the District Public Accounts Committee today afternoon at the district head quarters to answer some audit queries of July – September and October – December 2023.
Mr. Kato Soro, the Chairperson for the District Public Accounts Committee told the affected officials that he had received reports from the Senior Internal Auditor in-charge of Town Councils of Kisinga, Muhokya, Kinyamaseke and Kyarumba, Mr. Johnson Baluku indicating that the Heads of Finances and Town Clerks had declined to give him their audit reports.
Mr. Soro claimed that the failure by the said officials to give the Senior Internal Auditor their audit reports makes him submit half-backed information (reports) to the District Public Accounts Committee.

However, Ms Alice Bwambale, the Town Clerk for Kinyamaseke Town Council and Mr. Lawrence Kule Mughuma from Kyarumba Town Council denied the allegations, accusing the Senior Internal Auditor for taking long without reaching their respective work stations.
In a telephone interview with Messiah Radio, Mr. Johnson Baluku said the Heads of Finances sometime back refused to disclose the audit reports but afterwards, sat and resolved the issue.
The committee has then set March 26 as the date on which it will meet the CAO for harmonization and then decide on the matter. ENDS
