Three-Day lay readers’ retreat commences in Kinyamaseke Archdeaconry

Lay readers and their spouses from Kinyamaseke Archdeaconry in South Rwenzori Diocese are currently undergoing a three – day retreat at Tropical Resort in Mairo – Ikumi Trading Centre in Kinyamaseke Town Council. 

According to the area Archdeacon, the Venerable Solomon Badaaki, the retreat that started yesterday and will end tomorrow has been organized under the theme, “Imitating God’s Goodness by doing good,” as scripted in the biblical book of Galatians 6:9.

It aims at imparting knowledge and skills to the participants on a number of topics including unlocking their mindsets and preparing them for retirement.

Ven. Badaaki also explained that the retreat would see the participants lectured on family life ministries and issues related to domestic violence as well as understanding the Diocesan 10 year’s Strategic Plan.

He stressed that they decided to conduct the retreat in a resort not at the church to enable the participants get exposed to a new environment since they are used of conducting their activities at their respectively churches.

Rev. Can. Barnabas Kainja, a retired church minister who is among the key speakers at the retreat, urged the religious leaders who are still in active service to prepare their minds for retirement when it is still early.

Dr. Julius Monday Bwambale Rude, who paid a courtesy visit to the participants, asked the church leaders to encourage the Christians to get involved in some income generating activities in order to realize socio-economic transformation and development.
