The need for the land victims in Kasese to urgently leave the camp disappoints opposition leaders

Opposition political leaders in Kasese district have reacted bitterly to a decision by the District Security Committee directing the land victims encamped at the RDC’s office in Kasese town to leave the camp before their issues have been fully settled.

On Tuesday evening, the District Security Committee chaired by the RDC, Lt. Joe Walusimbi issued a directive to the camp occupants to leave the place and go back to their respective homes as they wait for the government to settle their issues.

However, by the time the ultimatum expired yesterday at midday, the victims resisted to vacate the camp despite the deployment of security personnel around the venue.

Speaking to the press today morning, Mr. Saulo Maate, the Chairperson for the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) in Kasese district criticized the security committee for making a decision that is contrary to the wishes of the people.

The outspoken Maate explained that he was concerned about the health of the children whose mothers had been denied entry into the camp and the people who could have left their medical items in the camp.

He appealed to the Human Rights Activists to come to the people’s rescue so that justice is served

The Kasese FDC Chairperson, Ronald Bwambale Kabuku, noted that he was disappointed with the resolution to send the people out of the camp, yet they were the ones with the powers and authority to settle the issue in a peaceful way.

Kabuku called on all political leaders to come and support their voters so that they are helped.
