Teachers in Kasese district have been called upon to continuously assess the learners as an alternative way of improving their academic performance.
The call was sounded yesterday afternoon by Silver Aisu Epiu, the Chairperson for the Academics Committee at Association of Secondary School Head teachers of Uganda (ASSHU) while officiating at the release of the 2025 UCE and UACE Mock examination results for Kasese district at Kasese Secondary School.
A total of 3,522 candidates sat for UCE while 1,183 sat for UACE. Of the UCE candidates 2,281 managed to come in result 1, approximated at 64.8%.
For the UACE, two candidates including Reymon Mumbere from Bright Academy and Phiona Faith Muhindo from St. Theresa Girls’-Nsenyi, both of them offering arts subjects emerged the overall best performers with 15 points.
It was incumbent upon this background that Mr. Epiu cited the need for the teachers to join hands and ensure assessing the learners regularly for the realization of better results in the forthcoming final examinations.
Joseph Nzukwa, the ASSHU Chairperson in-charge of the Rwenzori region, appealed to the school Head teachers to also embark on equipping the learners with skills and good values as a means of preparing them for life after studies.
Emmy Mwesige Kayiri, the Kasese Municipal Education Officer, observed the need for school administrators to always establish strategic study plans to the learners so that they act as guiding tools during the lessons.
St. Theresa Girls’ Secondary School – Nsenyi, St. John’s Minor Seminary and Standard High School Nyamwamba were announced as the overall best performing schools. ENDS
