Ugandan security forces have arrested a suspected collaborator of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebel group.
According to a statement released today afternoon by Police Spokesperson, Fred Enanga, the arrest took place in Hima Division, Kasese District in Western Uganda.
Peter Akugizibwe, alias Suliman, was apprehended by the joint counter-terrorism task force of intelligence and counter-terrorism units.
Enanga says the suspect was reportedly working as a subcontractor for True North Company Limited in the cement production department of Hima Cement.
Authorities suspect Akugizibwe of providing material support to the ADF, a Ugandan Islamist rebel group operating in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
ADF is accused of detonating bombs in Uganda and assassinating high profile people in the country.
Ugandan forces are working closely with their Congolese counterparts to defeat the ADF movement in North Kivu.
Enanga said the collaborative effort between the joint anti-terror task force and territorial teams in the Rwenzori region led to a successful disruption of the plans of wrong elements who support the ADF terror organization. ENDS
