Spouses of priests in South Rwenzori Diocese asked to engage in extensive farming and other forms of businesses

The Bishop of South Rwenzori Diocese has urged the spouses of priests to engage themselves in extensive farming and embrace other forms of businesses at the respective places of work where they are posted for the church ministry.

Rt. Nason Baluku sounded the advice this evening while officiating at the closure of a one –day retreat for all the priests’ spouses.

The retreat which was organized under the theme, “Submit yourself to one another because of your reverence to Christ,” was held at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Kasese town.  It was organized to specifically remind the participants of their roles in developing the church, families, relating with fellow Christians and the entire community.

But in his remarks, the Prelate explained while in service, the priests’ spouses ought to also embrace hard work through utilizing the pieces of land to practice agriculture on which they live and doing businesses for their socio – economic development. 

The Bishop also told them to always make expenditures according to their income inflows so as to save for the future after retirement and some emergencies.

Earlier, in his preaching during the devotion, Rev. Can. Nelson Walina, the Diocesan Secretary told the spouses of the priests to embrace the idea of helping their partners to preach the Good News through their good actions and exhibiting discipline.

Mrs. Jane Baluku, the Bishop’s wife told the participants to be humble in their service and have respect for their spouses as scripted in the Biblical Book of Ephesians 4:1-6.
