It was a moment of jubilation at Isango Trading Centre, Isango Cell in Kanyatsi- Kithoma Town Council in Kasese district when South Rwenzori Diocese Paddy Kabagambe Memorial Community Health Centre Isango was officially being opened.
Started in1980s by the Late Paddy Kabagambe to offer healthcare services to the community members, government started supporting the facility with medical supplies and staff but later withdrew the support leading to its slow growth and development.
On November 23, 2024, the family of the Late Kabagambe officially donated the health facility to South Rwenzori Diocese and was received by the Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Nason Baluku who also handed its management over to Kitholhu Archdeaconry.
Today, a section of Christians witnessed its official opening as one of the health facilities under South Rwenzori Diocese and the function was officiated over by the area Archdeacon, the Ven. Wilson Baluku Mulengya.
In his address to the Christians and the entire community members, Ven. Mulengya applauded the family of the Late Kabagambe for its wise decision of donating the health facility to the church.
He, however, challenged the community members to work together towards the development of the facility that is meant to offer healthcare services to them.
The Church Minister encouraged them to position themselves well so that they benefit from such a development that is located in their community.
Mr. Aminadabu Kule, the Head of Laity for Ikobero Church of Uganda Parish and Ericana Masimengo, the Archdeaconry Head of Laity described South Rwenzori Diocese Paddy Kabagambe Memorial Community Health Centre Isango as another milestone in history of the Diocese.
The duo observed the need for the community members to unite and support the development of the health facility so that is reaches the level of other facilities owned by the Diocese of South Rwenzori.
Mrs. Yerusi Masereka, the Mothers’ Union Leader at St. Phillips Isango Church of Uganda, was optimistic that the newly opened health facility would relieve them of the burden of walking long distances in search of healthcare services.
South Rwenzori Diocese Paddy Kabagambe Memorial Community Health Centre Isango will be offering In and Out-patient services, HIV/AIDS testing, antenatal care, immunization, guidance and counselling among others.
