Saulo Maate sheds some light on the relationship between opposition FDC and NUP

BY JOACKIM KULE

Mr. Saulo Maate, the Rwenzori Regional Commissioner for the Forum for Democratic has this evening shed some light on the relationship between the opposition FDC and the NUP political parties.

Recently, some media platforms published information that the FDC and National Unity Platform and some other opposition political parties had started engagements to see if they could come up with a coalition that is aimed at fronting one person for the presidential candidature in 2026.

The others even insinuated that some senior FDC leaders especially those linked to the Katonga faction led by Kampala City Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago could be contemplating joining NUP which is now the largest opposition party.

Now, while addressing the press at the FDC branch offices in Kasese town this evening, Mr Maathe urged the FDC supporters to treat that information with contempt since it is meant to mislead the people.

The outspoken FDC member argued that it is only people who are interested in creating confusion within the opposition party that are propagating that information adding that the FDC remains an independent political party whose main objective is to dislodge the ruling NRM party from power.

Maate, also in a rare spirit, encouraged all the people of Kasese to embrace government programs that are aimed at alleviating them out of poverty.
