Rwenzururu King Refutes Illness Rumours, Departs for Medical Visit Abroad

The Rwenzururu King (Omusinga) Charles Wesley Mumbere Irema-ngoma, has dismissed recent social media rumours suggesting that he is critically ill.

The Omusinga clarified the rumours shortly before departing the country early today morning at around 4:30am for a scheduled medical visit abroad, in line with advice from his personal doctors.

In his remarks, the King expressed deep gratitude to the Government of Uganda, led by His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, for honouringher pledge to facilitate his medical treatment outside the country.

He urged the Rwenzururu subjects to remain calm and not to be misled by unverified social media reports regarding his travels or health. Instead, he advised them to rely solely on official communication from the Royal Prime Minister’s Office for accurate information.

His Majesty also called upon all Kingdom subjects, Government agencies, Community Based Organizations (CBOs), Nongovernmental Organizations (NGOs), well-wishers, and the international community to actively support the Rwenzururu Kingdom’s upcoming events. They include the Birthday Run and the Coronation Celebrations slated for November 14, 2025 at Nyakasanga Playground in Kasese town.

During these celebrations, the Omusinga will officially launch the the Kingdom’s Strategic Development Plan 2025/2026–2029/2030, which will outline the cultural institution’s priority development projects.Two key projects to be fundraised for during the event includeRadio Nzururu FM – Omulenge ow’Ekithwa (The Voice of the Throne and the One-Stop Centre Cultural Tourism Village which aim to promote culture, communication, and sustainable development within the Kingdom.
