Residents Commend NRM Government for Ushering in Peace and Security

BY JOACKIM KULE MUHESI

A section of residents from Wasewanaba in Kirembe Cell of the Central Division in Kasese Municipality has commended the ruling NRM government for her efforts towards stabilizing peace and security as well as introducing socio-economic empowerment programs to the Ugandan citizens.

The residents, who claimed to have been relieved of the constant wars during the NRM’s regime, pledged to pay their allegiance to the party President and all his flagbearers in the forthcoming 2026 General Elections.

They sounded the remarks today while speaking to the Kasese Assistant RDC, Justine Muhindo Mutabazi, who was in the area for a community sensitization and NRM mobilization meeting at St. Joseph Wasewanaba Orphanage Nursery and Primary School.

Livenia Kabugho, a 66-year-old woman, who claimed to have seen repeated wars before the NRM government came to power in 1986, argued that they were challenged by underdevelopment because most of their investments were grabbed and enjoyed by the rebels.

According to her, the NRM’s efforts towards averting rebel groups from the country had enabled them to build good houses that they are currently living in without interference.

Uzieri Butanga, a 60 –year-old resident, explained that during the past regimes, wars affected the feeding of their children because they could not feed on good meals due to the pressures caused by gunshots and killings of innocent civilians.

Rebecca Masika Muhesi, another resident in the area, stressed that the current regime deserves re-election because of her economic empowerment programs and bringing women on board to participate in elective positions.

Muhesi highlighted the Parish Development Model, Uganda Women Entrepreneurship Program and Youth Livelihood Program among others.

During the meeting, at least 10 people defected from FDC to the ruling party and testified having allegedly wasted time in the opposition and voting leaders without seeing the progress of their party.

Led by Rabson Masereka, who claimed to have been an FDC mobilizer in Kirembe Ward, the defectors said they had believed the NRM was a political party with the ideas of leadership and transforming lives of people through her programs.

Speaking to the residents in a jovial mood, Assistant RDC Mutabazi welcomed their appreciation to the NRM government and encouraged them to spread the gospel to the rest of the citizens who might still be following falsehoods.

Mutabazi highlighted the government’s interventions in the sectors of health, education and infrastructural development among others.
