Leaders of various political parties in Kasese district have expressed their readiness to present their parliamentary flag bearers to the Electoral Commission for nomination ahead of the forthcoming 2026 General Elections.
According to the Electoral Commission’s Revised Roadmap, nominations of candidates for the position of Member of Parliament will be done next week on October 22 and 23.
Each intended candidate’s paper must be accompanied by proof of payment of a nomination fee of shillings 3,000,000 payable through any bank authorized to collect Non-Tax Revenue (NTR).
Saulo Maate, the Chairperson for the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF), says that the party has prepared all her flag bearers who according to him have fully collected all the signatures from the electorate as required by the Electoral Commission.
Maate stresses that the party has gotten strong support from the electorate in Kasese district.
Ronald Bwambale Kabuku, the Chairperson for the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) says all his flag bearers have already banked the nomination fees, noting a significant progress of more than 99% in terms of preparedness.
On his part, NUP’s Chairperson, Bryans Basisa calls for unity among the party members in order for them to end the nomination exercise peacefully.
Selevano Kiiro Mulhondi, the Kasese Municipality NRM Chairperson, is excited that the party will win all the elective positions basing on support from the ground.
