Police registers a surge in cases of violence in Kasese

BY JOACKIM KULE

The police in Kasese district are overwhelmed by high cases of domestic violence and violence against children.

The Rwenzori East Regional Police Spokesperson, SP Nelson Tumushime says they have so far registered 40 cases of violence against children since this month started with child neglect leading.

According to him, all the cases are from the three Divisions of Kasese Municipality.

He attributes the cases to the alleged failure by the parents to provide for their families hence forcing the children to leave their homes and join the streets and other immoral activities.

The Regional Police Mouthpiece is skeptical that the cases might increase further during the holiday break since the children will be at their respective homes.

He has since appealed to the parents to take up their responsibility of parenting in an attempt to minimize cases of violence that affect child development.
