Police in Kasese assure total security to politicians during elections

Security operatives in Kasese district have assured the politicians of the peaceful election process both in the primary and general elections.

They have however called on the candidates to carefully follow the guidelines issued by the Election Commission.

While closing a stakeholders’ meeting that was held at Rwenzori International Hotel in Kasese town, SSP. Denis Odoch, the Rwenzori East Regional Police Commander, asked the politicians to have time to understand the Electoral Commission guidelines in order to avoid being caught up by the law.

The meeting which aimed at peace promotion was organized by the Rwenzori Forum for Peace and Justice with funding from Women Peace and Humanitarian Fund.

In his remarks, Rev. Ezra Mukonzo Yongeza, the Rwenzori Regional Coordinator for the Interreligious Council of Uganda asked his fellow religious leaders to always incorporate messages on peace in their sermons in a bid to prepare the people’s minds towards the busy season of politics.

Mr. Swaibu Musenene from the Muslim faith commended the Rwenzori Forum for Peace and Justice for its efforts towards training the stakeholders about peace and advocated for the same to all political candidates.

Some participants at the training applauded the role played by Rwenzori Forum for Peace and Justice in Kasese district and the region in general as far as peace building and promotion are concerned.
