The Police in the Rwenzori East Policing Region have commended the Rwenzururu subjects for observing peace and discipline during a function in which they were celebrating the 57th coronation anniversary of Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere Iremangoma.
The Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu was yesterday celebrating the 57th coronation anniversary of the Omusinga as well as his 14th anniversary since the government of Uganda officially recognized the cultural institution.
SP Nelson Tumushime, the Rwenzori East Regional Police Spokesperson says that the event ended successfully because the subjects complied with the security guidelines that were issued out prior to the celebrations.
However, he noted that they arrested one person who injured a police officer and is yet to be taken to the courts of law for prosecution.
However, the leadership of the Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu through its Spokesperson Person, Hon. John B. Thawite says the suspect, Maate Katindo from Kyamukube Town Council in Bunyangabu district should be held personally responsible for his actions and sympathizes with the assaulted police officer.
