Yet to be known male adult has been put out of action while trying to attack Ibuga Government Prison in Kitswamba Sub-county, Kasese district.
The Kitswamba Sub-county Chairperson, Mr. Yofesi Katenene says the incident occurred on Wednesday at around 8:30pm in Ibuga II village, Rugendabara Parish.
According to Mr. Katenene, yet to known people tried to attack Ibuga Government Prison but their mission was unfruitful as the residents made an alarm, alerting the officers of the UPDF and Uganda Prisons Services who fired at them in self defense and inured the attackers, leaving one dead.
He has since appealed to the residents to stay calm since the situation is being managed by the security.
The Sub-county Boss told the press that combined security agencies including the UPDF, Uganda Police Force, Uganda Prisons Services and officers from the Uganda Wildlife Authority have launched a haunt for the assailants.
Lt. Joe Walusimbi, the Kasese Resident District Commissioner confirmed the incident, adding that investigations into the matter had commenced.
