One person has been shot dead from the Queen Elizabeth National Park in Kasese district.
The incident occurred last night at Kaleberyo as the victim was carrying a heap of wild meat.
Maj. David Bwambale Bayiringa, the Mountain Divisional Counter Intelligence UPDF Officer confirmed the incident while addressing the leaders from Bukonzo County East during their security meeting that was held at Kisinga Town Council headquarters.
Maj. Bayiringa, who did not name the victim, however, disclosed that he was a resident of Kitabu sub-county.
He subsequently warned the residents against the practice of using the park for carrying out some illegal activities including poaching.
However, the Kitabu Sub-county L. C III Chairperson, Mr. Robert Kyana noted that the victim is not a resident in his area of jurisdiction.
