The Rwenzururu King, Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere Iremangoma has advised Ugandans to invest in tourism activities so that they can tap money to facilitate their livelihoods.
Omusinga’s remarks were obtained from his written speech read by Hon. Patrick Baluku Muhesi, the Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development at Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu during 3rd Edition of the Rwenzori Theluji Festival.
The function was held on Saturday at the Rwenzori Square in Kasese Town.
Hon. Muhesi, while reading the Omusinga’s speech indicated that tourism activities enable the people to enhance their earnings and improve on their standards of living.
He also to the people to protect the features that exist on the Rwenzori Mountains through promoting environmental protection so that they are sustainable for the benefit of the future generations.
Omusinga also told the people especially the young to embrace their heritage since they have the potential to influence the world to shun negative mindsets and invest in developmental projects.
Mr. Benson Baritazale Kule, the Chairperson for Kasese Tourism Investors’ Forum told the gathering that they are focusing on greening so that that to protect the snows from reducing.
He urged the people to ensure that they plant trees in their respective communities and compounds in order to restore the normal temperatures on the mountain Rwenzori.
