Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu has denied the authenticity of the already created running kits that are currently circulating on different social media platforms.
According to the cultural institution, the kits that are circulating are not from the organizers of the Omusinga’s Birthday Run slated for November 14, this year.
The Run aims to fundraise for the installation of a radio station whose name has been proposed as “Omulenge We Kithwa.”
Hon. Geofrey Kanyonyi, the Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu Minister of Information, Mobilization and Kingdom’s Spokesperson, the organizers of the event had not yet released the official kits for the public to buy.
Kanyonyi says the radio station that will be established by the Kingdom will help to sensitize the subjects about the need to restore the eroded cultural values and norms as well as the language which has been allegedly diluted.
The radio station is also expected to promote civic education and creating employment opportunities to the skilled personnel in the Rwenzori region.
Hon. Kanyonyi also says they have taken note of the graphics and contents used in an attempt to display the kits for the Birthday Run, arguing that the ones being circulated are not authentic.
He adds that the Birthday Run will involve the selling of kits to the participants once they have been officially made at a fee that will formally be communicated by the organizers.
Kanyonyi puts it clear that the Kingdom in collaboration with the organizing committee, will officially release the kits with classified symbols on Thursday.
Kanyonyi, however, is optimistic that the initiative by the youth has manifested the spirit of enthusiasm and overwhelming support of the forthcoming Birthday Run.
Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu is targeting 10,000 people to participate in the Omusinga’s Birthday Run.
