Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu warns political players against using the name of Omusinga in their campaigns

BY JOACKIM KULE MUHESI

Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu has issued a stern warning to all political actors against involving and using the name of His Majesty Omusinga, Charles Mumbere Iremangoma in their campaigns.

A press release dated today and signed by the Acting Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Benson Kule Baritazale indicates that the Cultural Institution and Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere Iremangoma distance themselves from the statements that were allegedly uttered by Winnie Kiiza Nyabahasa while campaigning for the NUP in the Kawempe North by-election yesterday.

A video clip surrounding on different social media platforms, asserts that while addressing the supporters of the NUP candidate, Winnie Kiiza Nyabahasa said she had been sent by the Omusinga to appeal to them to rally behind the party candidate in the by-election.

However, while addressing the press today evening at the Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu Liaison’s Office in Kasese town, Rt. Hon. Noah Nzaghale, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, stressed that Nyabahasa falsely claimed that she was sent by Omusinga to deliver the message in support of a NUP candidate in the by-elections.

Nzaghale on behalf of Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu categorically states that His Majesty (Omusinga) Charles Wesley Mumbere Iremangoma is non partisan and has never authorized and delegated Hon. Winnie Kizza Nyabahasa or any other individual to speak on his behalf at any political campaign.

Obusinga thus urges all stakeholders to respect the neutrality of the Cultural Institution and allow it continue serving its noble role of fostering peace, unity and socio-economic transformation within the Rwenzori Region and beyond.
