Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu to embark on teaching local languages

Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu has unveiled plans to embark on a program of enhancing the teaching of local languages in schools and communities.

The plans were unveiled yesterday by the Cultural Institution’s Deputy Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Benson Kule Baritazale while addressing the press at the Kingdom’s Liaisons Office in Kasese town.

Rt. Hon. Baritazale stressed that they were working closely with the District Language Board to give them the due mandate of implementing the teaching of local languages in schools and communities in order to help the loyalists understand the genesis of their language.

He, however, explained that there were also cooperating with the authorities to harmonize the content that would be taught by the teachers during the implementation process of the local languages.

The Deputy Premier implored the parents to always encourage their children speak the local languages while at their respective homes, saying the act paves way for them to learn and grasp some terminologies in their native language.

He called upon the youth who are talented in music, dance and drama to use such skills to promote their local languages.
