BY ZALIMON BASIGHALHA (GOOD LUCK)

The Kasese District National Resistance Movement (NRM) party has sanctioned the candidature of Mr. Edwin Kugonza Bayiringa for the position of the Bukonzo County East Member of Parliament in the forthcoming party primary elections.

NRM as a political party is expected to conduct some primary elections next year in an attempt to identify its flag bearers who would compete with candidates from other political parties including FDC and NUP.

Today morning, Mr. Bayiringa who was accompanied by some Sub-county party Chairpersons from Bukonzo County East first visited the RDC’s office in Kasese town to inform the Head of Security about his intentions to via for the Parliamentary seat before proceeding to the District NRM office in the afternoon where he was received by the party Secretary for Publicity and Mobilization, Mr. Johnson Kamalha Kalyasa.

Speaking to the press shortly after a closed meeting with Mr. Bayiringa, Mr. Kamalha explained that as the NRM office, they do not have the mandate to deny someone’s interests to vie for any political position, a reason why they sanctioned his candidature.

In a jovial mood immediately after being endorsed, Mr. Bayiringa, who is currently serving as the Deputy Prime Minister for the Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu, said he was in the process of resigning from his position in order to avoid mixing politics with the Kingdom’s issues.

He explained that his intention to vie for the Parliamentary seat was to unite all the people of Bukonzo County East regardless of their various political parties coupled with connecting the constituency to the Central Government for opportunities and service delivery.
