OBR and International Justice Mission Launch Efforts to Disseminate Information on Policy Guideline Book on Family and Gender Relationship

The Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu with support from International Justice Mission (IJM) has launched efforts to disseminate information on policy guideline book on Family and Gender Relationship that was officially commissioned last year by His Majesty, Charles Wesley Mumbere Iremangoma.

In May 2024, the Omusinga officially launched the Policy Guideline Book on Family and Gender Relationship purposely to address some human rights violations, particularly against women and children within the Kingdom.

The policy aims to promote a more just and equitable society by tackling issues such as domestic violence, which the Omusinga linked to an increase in suicidal cases among his subjects.

The guidelines which have since been translated in Lhukonzo will be disseminated to the subjects so that they understand them.

Yesterday, officials from Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu, Religious leaders and members of the press among others convened at Rwenzori International Hotel in Kasese town to devise means of how to disseminate the information contained in the policy book.

At the meeting which will end today, the Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu Minister of Gender, Rehabilitation and Disability Affairs, Juliet Best Bakoko, emphasized the importance of understanding the rights of women and children.

Mr. Emmanuel Emwamu, the Western Regional Manager for International Justice Mission, urged the cultural leaders to denounce violence and report the perpetrators to the relevant authorities.

Enoch Muhindo, a member of the Privy Council for Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu called for equal opportunities of the women without discrimination.
