Members of the National Unity Platform led by a Parliamentary hopeful for the Kasese District Woman Member of Parliament, Fatuma Katembo Kamama has donated relief items to the displaced persons encamped at Nyambuko Camp in Ibanda – Kyanya Town Council.
On April 20, this year, the area witnessed floods and mudslides leaving a section of people displaced. The victims are still encamped at Nyambuko SDA Church.
Last evening, Kamama led a delegation of NUP members who delivered an assortment of items including 200 kilograms of cassava flour, 01 box of bar, 14 jerrycans and dippers.
While handing over the items to the camp chairperson, Kamama stressed that as NUP, they were concerned about the poor living conditions of the victims in the camp.
She appealed to both the government and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) for support. Having been told that 10 mothers had delivered from the camp, Kamama observed the need for such new born babies to be supported so that they are curtailed from contracting diseases.
The Camp Chairperson, Mr. Saul Mughunza, applauded the leadership of the National Unity Platform for the generosity towards supporting the victims living in the camp.
Ms Night Musoki, one of the beneficiaries applauded Kamama for donating relief items to them. She, however, revealed that they still facing a number of challenges related to mosquito bites from the nearby river and the lack of medicine at the existing health centre.
