Mr Gadi Mbayahi joins National Unity Platform

BY OBED KULE KITHENDE

The National Unity Platform-NUP Kasese Chapter has this afternoon received Mr Gad Mbayahi Bakwanamaha into its fold.

Mr Mbayahi is a retired educationist who once served with the opposition Forum for Democratic Change-FDC party before he was handpicked by Rwenzururu King Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere to chair a prime ministerial commission that steered Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu between 2017 and 2020.

During that time, Mr Mbayahi abstained from active politics and concentrated on peace-building in the Rwenzori region and enhancing the relationship between Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu and Central government.

Now, having stayed clear of partisan politics for some time, Mr. Mbayahi told the media at Bamboocha Gardens in Kasese town that he had taken a conscious decision to join the opposition National Unity Platform in order to make a contribution to the improvement of governance of this country through giving counsel to the young people who are pursuing democratic change in Uganda.

Ms Jackline Jolly Tukamushaba the NUP party vice president for western Uganda welcomed Mr Mbayahi into the struggle for regime change in Uganda.

Ms Tukamushaba not only noted that the party would benefit from Mbayahi’s wise counsel but also rooted for unity and integrity among all the members of Uganda’s largest opposition party.

Hon. Jackson Mbaju Kathika the party coordinator for the Rwenzori sub-region reiterated the commitment of the party officials to mobilize and recruit new members as the country heads to the next general election next year.
