The Minister of State for ICT and National Guidance, Godfrey Baluku Kabbyanga Kiime, has rallied Ugandans to get ready for the National Population and Housing Census slated for this year.
Kabbyanga says that the government of Uganda has set May 10 to May 19, 2024 as census days. It should be noted that Uganda last conducted the National Population and Housing Census in 2014.
Speaking to the congregation yesterday at the Kyogha Roman Catholic Church in Bwera Sub-county, Bukonzo County West in Kasese district during the Palm Sunday celebrations, Kabbyanga implored all citizens of Uganda to get ready and work closely with the enumerators by giving them the accurate and relevant information about them and their domestic things including wealth during the time of National Population and Housing Census slated for this year.
Speaking to the press shortly after the church service, Kabbyanga said that the National Population and Housing Census result will enable the government to plan for her people properly.
The Junior Minister also revealed the government of Uganda through National Identification and Registration Authority- NIRA will soon again register her natives in the National Identification Register including children aged 16.
It should be remembered that the first batch of National Identity Cards totaling to 15.8 million were printed and issued out during the National Security and Information System project in the year 2014/15 and will expire between August this year 2024 and June 2025.
Kabbyanga now rallies every Ugandan to register their particulars during the exact time since the National Identity Cards will be key requirements for anyone to get services from public offices. \
Kabbyanga used the same podium to encourage the general public to engage themselves in productive activities rather than spending most of their time in politicking as well as analyzing international sports.
