BY JOACKIM KULE MUHESI

Students in Kasese district have been warned against the act of being members of groups whose focus is not on promoting education and good discipline amongst themselves in their respective communities.

The warning was sounded today afternoon by Faith Katsumbyo, a Midwife at Bwera Government General Hospital while facilitating at a Career Guidance Session and official inauguration of the newly elected prefects at Rwesororo Hill Vocational Secondary School in Kisinga Sub-count, Bukonzo County East.

The function was also organized to award D.I.T certificates to the Senior Four candidates in a number of disciplines including tailoring, catering and hotel management, agriculture, ICT, electrical installation, carpentry and joinery and brick-laying among others.

Ms Katsumbyo explained that most students who join bad peer groups end up dropping out of schools hence affecting their future.

According to her, bad peer groups also contribute to early marriages and unwanted pregnancies that are risky to their lives.

Mr. Richard Kilambuli, the Community Development Officer at Kasese Give a Goat –Africa implored the young people to embrace vocational skills training in an attempt to eradicate the challenge of unemployment.

Leopold Wunderlich, the Founder of Kasese Give a Goat –Africa appealed to the learners to begin preparing for the future through the acquisition of both formal education and vocational skills. He also observed the need for them to live healthy lives through abstaining from activities that might expose them to diseases.
