Political leaders in Kasese District have tasked Head teachers of secondary schools to sensitize the public about the current grading of the Uganda Certificate of Examinations (UCE) in the implementation of the competence – based lower secondary schools’ curriculum.
The leaders argue that most of the people especially the parents are still confused about the grading, hence making them unable to decide on the next course of action after receiving the results for their children.
Mr. Chance Kahindo Sibyabugha, the Kasese Municipality Mayor complains that he is still confused about the grading system, making him unable to identify which candidates passed or failed.
He tasks the Heads of the Examination Centers to come out and utilize the social media platforms to tell the parents how their children scored and their qualifications for the Advanced Level or Tertiary Institutions.
Mr. Jeremiah Bwambale Bwanandeke, the District Councilor representing Mahango Sub-county, argues that the parents do not have knowledge about the next levels of their children’s education.
Bwanandeke, who is a teacher by profession, however, appreciates the new curriculum for having components that enable the learners to acquire life and vocational skills.
He uses the same opportunity to call upon the parents to send their children to schools since the term has entered the second week.
