The Kasese District L.CV Chairperson, Mr. Eliphaz Muhindi Bukombi has asked the local leaders at both the village and sub county levels to mobilize the population to take up the Yellow Fever jab.
The massive vaccination against the viral disease kicked off on Saturday at various health centers and designated stations across the district.
Mr. Muhindi who was on Sunday monitoring the progress of the exercise in Busongora County realized that in some areas, the turn-out was still low especially in the lake areas of Kasenyi and Katunguru.
At Kasenyi Health Centre III in Lake Katwe Sub County, only 80 people were vaccinated at the beginning, 067 at Katunguru and about 70 people at Muhokya Health Centre III in Muhokya Town Council while more than 700 people were jabbed at Bugoye Health Center IV.
The district boss emphasised the need for the leaders to mobilize the natives to embrace the vaccination to guard them against contracting the viral yellow fever disease.
Mr. Julius Asiimwe, the LCI Chairperson for Kigabo village in Kasenyi parish encouraged residents on the lake areas to always embrace health programs so as to better their lives.
Dr. Yusuf Baseke, the Kasese District Health Officer told our reporter that the exercise would also be extended to the pupils in schools tomorrow to those that have missed it from their villages.
