Local Council I chairpersons in Kasese district have been urged to take lead in monitoring the education performance of children of school going age in their areas if they are to enjoy fruits of education.

This was sounded by the Hon. Dr. Chrispus Kiyonga, the former Uganda’s Ambassador to China while speaking to the people of Ihandiro Sub County during the official launch of the Digital Community hub at Ihandiro Vocational Secondary School on Thursday.

The well equipped digital hub worth millions of money was established by the American Tower Cooperation to ease the access to internet and enhance digital skills not only for students of Ihandiro Vocational Secondary but also for the entire community of Ihandiro sub-county.

Now, Dr. Kiyonga says that the Local Council I Chairpersons have a duty to challenge any parent whose children are not in school.

He also asked the teachers to love their profession and practice with passion arguing that it is only dedicated service that leads to better performance.

Lt. Maate Magwara, the Deputy RDC for Kasese in charge of Bukonzo County also urged the parents to ensure that their children don’t stay home for long since the academic year has already commenced.

Magwara also implored the community to spare time to attain free computer skills from the digital lab established at Ihandiro Vocational SS.

On the Digital Community lab, the former Minister emphasized the need for the people of Bukonzo West to ensure value for money by maximally utilizing the digital labs established in the constituency.

Bukonzo County West on Thursday was gifted with two Digital Community labs; one at Mpondwe Primary School in Mpondwe Lhubiriha Town Council and another at Ihandiro Vocational Secondary School in Ihandiro Sub County.

Ms Dorothy Kabagambe, the Chief Executive Officer at the tower construction company, urged the people to jealously protect the digital labs and use them to create linkages that are fundamental for socio-economic transformation.

Ms Kabagambe, whose silent name is Ithungu and thus a daughter of the soil, also pledged to cater for the education needs for one the students at Ihandiro Vocational SS. ENDS
