Kyanzuki Ward Municipal Councilor in Bulembia Division of Kasese Municipality has experienced disappointment over the government’s alleged failure to allocate funds to facilitate the payment of medical bills for councilors at all levels in the country.

Mr. Patrick Syamutsangira expressed his dismay yesterday afternoon during a full council sitting at the send off ceremony of the Late Zaulia Kyakimwa, 45 who has been representing Nyakabingo II and Kirembe Wards to Kasese Municipal Council.

Late Kyakimwa who was buried at Kyamukoka Village of Nyakabingo sub –county in Busongora County South had spent a good number of months while bedridden and breathed her last on Saturday March 08.

Syamutsangira noted that government had not minded about budgeting for the medical bills of the councilors amidst the little emoluments that they receive, something he said does not allow them to receive specialized medical care.

Asked about the matter today morning, Kasese Municipal Mayor, Chance Kahindo, stressed that government doesn’t consider allocating medical assurance to councilors because they are not permanent and pensionable employees and they are regarded as part-timers.

He asserted that individually, they can support their colleagues basing on their affordability.
