Kithulha Care Initiative donates cassava stem cuttings to the residents

Kithulha Care Initiative, a Community Based Organization operating in Kasese Municipality has donated 42 sacks of cassava stem cuttings to the residents of Kirembe Ward in the Central Division as a way of boosting food security in the area.

The donation was delivered today morning by the Organization’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Charles Mwanga Nzaghale at Kirembe and Wasewanaba trading centres respectively.

Mr. Nzaghale revealed that today donation was the second consignment given to the residents in the area, adding that the variety takes only six months to its maturity.

He also encouraged the beneficiaries most especially those from Kirembe, Kahokya, Wasewanaba and Nyamirangara to maintain their cassava plantations in an attempt to realize better yields.

Presiding over the function, the District Woman Councilor representing Central and Bulembia Divisions, Hon. Sylivia Agaba, hailed Kithulha Care Initiative for the donation that she described as timely.

Mr. Lawrence Bwambale, the L.C I Chairperson for Kirembe Cell who was among the beneficiaries of the first phase, testified that the distribution of cassava stem cuttings had greatly improved food security in the area. 

A section of beneficiaries who managed to speak to our reporter applauded Kithulha Care Initiative for relieving them from buying cassava flour.
