A section of leaders from Kasese district has cautioned the residents from getting involved in acts that promote domestic violence and its associated dangers.
According to the leaders, domestic violence is often associated with poverty, school dropouts and early marriages among others.
Mr. Joseph Nyamutale, the Mubuku Town Council Chairperson says the urban centre is overwhelmed by an increase in the number of domestic violence cases.
He says at least five cases are reported in a month and several others remain unreported and secretly handled in homes.
To his disappointment, young girls, women and men are the most affected people, appealing to the general public and fellow leaders to continue promoting the campaign against domestic violence.
In a similar development, SP Luke Mbusa, the Rwenzori East Community Liaisons Officer, observes the need for the women to become committed to their responsibilities especially attending to their husbands and children despite their financial abilities and ranks.
He suggests to the couples to work and plan together as a team coupled with sharing common goals, aims and objectives in an attempt to curtail issues related to domestic violence.
