The Bishop of South Rwenzori Diocese has appealed to the people in Kasese district to maintain peace and unity as they celebrate Christmas.
Rt. Rev. Nason Baluku sounded the appeal today evening while delivering his Christmas message at his office located at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Kasese town.
The Prelate stressed that the people ought to distances themselves from activities that might disrupt peace at the various places that they would celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ from.
He also noted that the people should not get involved in conflicts that are based on tribes, race and religion in a bid to realize development.
The Man of God also advised the church leaders to work closely with police in information sharing and reporting people that might look strange at the various places of worship.
He called upon the Church Wardens to ensure thorough checking of the people who would throng the places of worship for the Christmas services.
The Bishop implored family heads to ensure that they prevent cases related to domestic violence, adding that he was happy that the district had started registering progress in eliminating violence from the communities.
He observed the need for the people to make use of the relevant stakeholders including Church and local leaders to handle issues that are likely to cause conflicts in the communities.
