The Kasese Assistant Resident District Commissioner has reaffirmed their commitment to fighting absenteeism of teachers in both government grant-aided primary and secondary schools across the district.
Ms Justine Muhindo Mutabazi sounded the remarks yesterday during a stakeholders’ meeting that was aimed at devising means on how to improve the education standards in the greater Kitholhu sub-county.
The meeting which was attended by the School Management Chairpersons, Head teachers, political leaders and parents was held at Kanyatsi Primary School in Kithoma – Kanyatsi Town Council.
Mutabazi revealed that the RDC’s had noted with concern an outcry from the parents, accusing most of the teachers in government grant-aided schools of their alleged failure to commit themselves to work at their respective places of work.
She told the meeting that their office had developed a new system of tracking and tracing teachers who allegedly report late at their respective places of work, decline to teach and leave early so that they are penalized.
Ms Mutabazi implored the Head teachers to ensure effective supervision of their subordinates.
On his part, the Kasese RDC in-charge of Bukonzo County told the parents to take their children to schools whose fees are affordable in a bid to reduce on the rate of school dropouts in the area.
The Kithoma –Kanyatsi Town Council Chairperson, Milton Kule Mbwarara urged the parents to develop a positive attitude towards their children’s education.
